Early Life

On November 4, 1988, on Galveston Island, Texas, Desmond Bryant, an American NFL player, was born. His mother was arrested for supplying crack cocaine when he was eight years old; thus, he had a difficult life. Dez Bryant house changed eight times during his tenure at Lufkin High School.

He recognized his passion as a football player and guided his team to a 14-1 record throughout his junior year at Lufkin. Bryant was appointed to the All-State team as a senior after recording 53 receptions for 1,207 yards and 21 touchdowns. In high school, he also played track and field and became one of the best in Texas for the triple jump.

Collegiate Career

After high school, Bryant was approached by several programs but finally decided to play football for the Oklahoma State University Cowboys. In his rookie season, he had 43 receptions for 622 total yards and six receiving touchdowns, good for second place on the squad.

Bryant was awarded an All-American after a strong second season with 87 receptions for 1,480 total yards and 19 touchdowns. Bryant was made ineligible for most of the 2009 season for breaking an NCAA bylaw, so that would be his final full year at Oklahoma State.

Professional Career

The Dallas Cowboys appointed Bryant in the 2010 NFL Draft. In addition to being the first Cowboys rookie to score different punt returns for a touchdown in a single season since Kevin Williams in 1993, he had an amazing rookie season, recording 45 grabs for 561 yards and six total touchdowns.

With 63 receptions for 928 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011, Bryant's numbers increased. In 2012, he gained even greater success with 92 grabs for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was selected for his first Pro Bowl in 2013 after completing career highs of 93 receptions and 13 touchdowns.

With 88 receptions for 1,320 yards and an NFL-high 16 touchdowns, Bryant played his most successful NFL season in 2014. He ultimately earned his second straight Pro Bowl berth. The Cowboys proceeded to the postseason but lost to the Green Bay Packers in the final Round.

Bryant skipped several weeks of action due to a foot ailment at the beginning of the 2015 season. He made a comeback in a defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. After playing nine games, Bryant found the season with 31 receptions for 401 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

After facing injuries again in 2016, he completed 13 games and 50 receptions for 796 yards and eight touchdowns. Bryant also earned his third Pro Bowl selection. The Cowboys skipped the playoffs in 2017, and he played his last season with the team, recording 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns.

Despite playing for the Cowboys for eight seasons, the team cut him in the spring of 2018. Bryant was sued in 2011 for failing to pay for jewellery he had purchased on credit while he was a student-athlete and for failing to pay legal expenses. In court, the matter was resolved.

Bryant was charged with domestic violence the next year after he allegedly struck his biological mother, Angela. Royce West, a state senator from Texas, later sued him in the summer of 2016 for allegedly causing damage to West's DeSoto, Texas, rental property.

Contracts

In 2015, Dez signed a five-year, $70 million agreement with the Cowboys, which included a $45 million guarantee. Some said this was too much money for a wide receiver who had not yet developed himself as an accurate performer, even though it was a big contract for him.

However, in 2016 and 2017, Bryant had two outstanding seasons and contributed to the Cowboys' two NFC East championships. When Bryant was cut by the Cowboys in 2018, his career ended. After attending the New Orleans Saints, he was sidelined for the season despite tearing his Achilles tendon in his first game.
